After the terrible event that took place last Sunday April 2nd, when Lorraine Ramirez (17) and Nikki Piñero (21 and 4 months pregnant) were murdered by a male rider with unaddressed mental health issues and under the effects of LSD during VLT, Philippines biggest longboard event, the longboard community went in shock.

People from all over the world showed their condolences to Nikki and Lorraine’s family and friends, as well as to the longboard community. Riders started using the hashtag #skateforlorraine and there were demonstrations of affection during the upcoming events not only in South East Asia but everywhere. Candy Dungan & Aaron Hampshire held an event in Colorado and raised almost 1000$ for Nikki & Lorraine’s family! Check it out HERE.

In San Juan Siquijor a prayer vigil for Lorraine and Nikki was held. LGC New Zealand Ambassador Elissa Mah attended along with other riders and members of the community.

We were all wondering how else we could help their families and the local community, so rider Julia Barklow started a GoFundMe campaign where we can all chip in and help not only with all our love and support but as well financially to these families struck by this tragedy. We know that Lorraine’s mother had to borrow money to be able to buy a ticket to Dumaguete where Lorraine’s body was, they will need money for the funeral and expenses will keep on coming. We’re still getting over the initial shock and hope that love and light prevails among all of us. The longboard community conform one big family and we know it will stay that way.
