Endless Roads – Episode 3 Land of Castles 2012

In this third episode, we return from Mallorca and visit Carlota’s parents in their family house in Denia where they invite us for paella in front of the beach (winning!). We spend the night in Calpe and continue our journey into Spain’s medieval towns Toledo and Ávila. Castilian landscapes and lands of castles are waiting for us.

In this episode we also get to skate the amazing Longboard Rodriguez boards which are 1.8 meters long and SO.MUCH.FUN.

ABOUT ENDLESS ROADS

In 2012 we decided it was time for our first movie: A roadtrip around Spain skating every road we could find. Was it crazy? Yes. Was it doable? Maybe.

We worked for months trying to bring our schedules together as we all worked or studied and had to find a couple of weeks in summer where not only the riders but also the small production crew could make it.

Jacky, Carlota and Valeria, the female-riding staff members at the time + Monica and Chus who were the rest of the staff, decided to invite our friends Maitane Rascón from Basque Country, Gádor Salís from Madrid and, wait for it… two international riders: Amanda Powell from USA and Marisa Núñez from Peru but living in USA as well.
We would also have guest riders in each chapter while travelling around.

Again, today this is the most common thing. Riders travelling and shooting around the world but back then things were pretty different.

Somehow we made it work and with the few Euros we gathered, we got an old VW T2 (in exchange for advertisement) and started our roadtrip.

In Dickens’ words “it was the best of time, it was the worst of times”

It was so much fun but it was also so hard. We were skating, learning, falling, enjoying, thriving, coexisting… LIVING!

Endless Roads was extremely successful and reached audiences so far away from us. I guess you can see in the videos the amazing adventure and stoke we had during the whole trip.

Valeria Kechichian and Juan Rayos came up with the name “Endless Roads” during another roadtrip and after the shooting was over. They loved 1965’s movie “The Endless Summer”, a surf documentary traveling the world chasing the perfect wave. While playing with the words and, if I’m not mistaken, they both screamed at the same time “Endless Roads”! and the rest is history.

Endless Roads was originally premiered in 4 chapters and later relaunched as a complete movie. These videos impacted millions of people around the world and changed the perception forever that longboarding was a male-dominated sport.
