Longboarding in Peru

For the past two years longboarding has witnessed a rocketing grow in PERU. Same has happened for the girls movement. We were only a few at the beginning and now there are thousands of subscribers in our facebook page.  It is so inspiring to see how everyday a growing number of  girls are joining the crew and getting involved with the sport. We can’t but being  thankful to all the people that are taking part of this passion and who are daily supporting us.

We, Peruvians, are lucky to have breathtaking natural sceneries that allow us to bomb hills that we bet any longborder would kill to have. That’s why Downhill is so popular, pure adrenaline,  an enjoyable high speed sport which entertains and gives us  a huge rush and for us  just  “around the corner”. Watching girls practicing longboarding, specially Downhill, wasn’t very common for the risk commonly associated to the practice. However, we are proud to say that he girls’ participation is becoming more notorious each time, getting involved in all its modalities.

Such is the popularity of longboarding in our country, that we are hosting the third edition of the world championship Copa de los Andes Tarma 2011, on October 27th.

For the occasion we’ll have the pleasure to see top ranked riders like Katie Nielson and the also Peruvian Marisa Nuñez. Amidst the championship, Marisa and Katie will be holding the first downhill clinic ever in our country: the Daddies Girls Skate Day Lima. In this event Katie and Marisa will talk about their DH experiences, we will be able to watch them make some demos and have a gnarly riding session with the Peruvian girls crew.

Finally, a message to the girls from all countries around the world…and specially from all over PERU: we invite you to keep sending us pictures and videos with your name and the city you are from!
